Heart Awareness Month is earmarked for September on an annual basis in South Africa. The month is dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease and its risk factors in South Africa, and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle to prevent disease onset.
In this month, the importance of the correct treatment for those who have cardiac related medical conditions, is also highlighted. Heart Awareness Month culminates in World Heart Day, an initiative of the World Heart Federation (WHF), on the 29th of September.
